context matters. always.

how did I end up like this?

2003-2009 (Bangalore, India)

I was born in Bangalore, India. Much of what I remember from this era was just Montessori and time spent with my family. A dancer, a singer, an artist, a scientist and a thrill seeker. I was the annoying kid who flailed their legs on the swings in hopes it would go upside down— only to get flung off the swing and land flat on my face.

2009-2016 (Singapore)

Singapore American School + UWCSEA EAST

In 2009 my mother and father decided that we should move to Singapore. This was the backdrop of much of my childhood; the setting of my 10th birthday, my first play, my first summer camp. It was also where I made my first best friends and had the first sleepovers. I’m a little biased when I look back at Singapore, as I was living life as a kid with rose coloured glasses. Even now those rather mundane places remind me of a time where the world seemed less complicated.

2016-2017 (Malta + Croatia + New Zealand + Chile + Antarctica + Japan + India + Singapore)

One day, my family decided that my brother and I should be homeschooled for a year in order to travel. While many told me how lucky I was, it took me a lot of time to adjust. I left my friends and my home behind for the unknown, and it was thrilling and frightening at the same time. This was also the first time I deeply considered what I was actually interested in and pursued an array of projects in conjunction with my school work.

2017-2019 (Weybridge, United Kingdom)

ACS Cobham

After much debate my family decided that instead of returning to Singapore, that we move to the UK. Despite my preconceived notions, I was met with much culture shock— people didn’t look like me, they didn’t eat the same food as me, and they lived in the countryside. With its majority white and rural population, Weybridge was the opposite of Singapore. This was also the first time I went to school after my one year of homeschooling. But despite all things I made valuable connections and learned to like the British countryside.

2019-2022 (Bosnia and Herzegovina + Australia + Chile + Botswana + Mexico + UAE + Greece)

Think Global School

If I could write a short blurb explaining my TGS journey, I doubt I would have made this website. The last three years have been unfathomable, and I doubt the girl I was three years ago could recognise she became (someone who knows herself just a little bit better and with a better hair cut).
